AT THE FOREFRONT.
Since 1994 Tom and Liz have been running their own practices and testing eyes in Derby. After initially setting up their Oakwood branch they chose to open Alvaston Opticians in 2007.
Practice Manager Dawn, born and bred in Alvaston, has been at the practice since its beginning and is well recognised by our patients as the beating heart of Alvaston Opticians.
Our practice also has had the pleasure of Laura, who also has been testing eyes with us since we opened and now Steven Burge an experienced optometrist who also works at the hospital.
The team is supported by Optical Assistants Sarah, Tia, Manisha and Sam. We look forward to seeing you in our practice!
All adult NHS patients are offered exactly the same test as any private patient. This usually lasts 30 minutes with the optician and includes the eye pressure and visual field tests for glaucoma.
"I saw Tom this morning and was very happy with a really thorough eye test, carried out in a professional, but relaxed and friendly manner. I had been having problems with a new prescription after cataract surgery and everyone was helpful, considerate and pleasant.
There is a large car park behind the opticians and a café next door. "
